Grounded in Biblical Truth, we honor our heritage and deep faith in the Lord Jesus Christ by proclaiming the Gospel openly through worship, witness, Bible study, missions, fellowship and service to the community.

Let Your Lent Shine

Let Your Lent Shine

Lent is a time of repentance, fasting, and preparation for the coming of Easter.
Christians focus on their relationship with God, choosing to give up something or
volunteering and giving of themselves for others. This year don’t just give up
chocolate. Let Your Lent Shine!

The Women’s Fellowship will use Lent as a time of focus on their relationship with
God by participating in special and additional ministries including prayer,
devotional time and being of service to our church and our community. During the
season of Lent all women of the church are invited not only to give up something but
also to give back.
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, March 6th and ends on Holy Saturday, April 20th.
The Women’s Fellowship has created a calendar of opportunities for each week that
will be published on Friedberg Friends, in the bulletin and Folio, via email and by
using our phone tree. We encourage all Friedberg women to participate.
A journal of our service and donations will be kept and shared with everyone at our
June meeting.
Devotional & Service Opportunities
Pray in a focused manner for 15 minutes every day. James 5:16a. The prayer of a
righteous person is very powerful in its effect.
Give a little every day. Acts 20:35. In every way I’ve shown you that it is necessary
to help the weak by laboring like this and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus,
because He said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive”. Give away 40 things.
Search your closet, pantry, basement, etc. and give something away.
No Gossip. Proverbs 13:3 The one who guards his mouth preserves his life, the one
who opens his lips invites his own ruin. If you can’t say something nice, don’t say
anything at all.
Encourage one another. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 Therefore encourage one another
and build each other up, as you are already doing. Say 3 encouraging things to
someone every day.Get to know God through reading His word. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is
inspired by God, and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training
in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for
every good work. Replace 30 minutes of TV or social media with devotions and
prayer. Read one Book of the Bible.

No murmuring. Philippians 2:14 Do everything without grumbling and arguing, Do
not complain.

Reach out and serve each week. Matthew 9:37-38 Then He said to His disciples,
“The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few. Therefore, pray the Lord of the
harvest to send out workers into His harvest.”
